Our clients

The EAL Academy's clients include Primary, Secondary, Nursery and Special schools, teachers, academies trusts, local authorities, international schools, charities, trusts and academic institutions based in the UK and abroad.

Our work for these organisations takes many different forms: delivering single training courses in-school, in-class coaching, developing bespoke training resources, through to full-blown consultancy and training over a period of some years. But we always begin with the organisation's needs and develop an approach that is appropriate to the situation.

Our clients remain loyal and committed, returning to us repeatedly to keep pace with the ever changing situations in UK schools and to keep abreast of best practice.

Who are our clients?

Ultimately, our clients are the children the teachers teach, the teachers heads manage, and the schools city councils and local authorities support.

Peterborough City Council

Since 2013, The EAL Academy has brought together specialists with expertise across the fields of English as an additional language, ethnic minority achievement and the teaching of academic language to work closely with the schools in and around Peterborough.
During that time, we have seen significant increases in EAL attainment.  We are now in the fourth year of our work in Peterborough and are establishing an enduring legacy of highly effective school to school support for EAL.
The legacy includes the establishment of particular centres of expertise in raising Pakistani attainment and meeting the needs of East European Roma pupils. We are expanding a programme we began in 2015-16 to develop a group of Peterborough teachers as specialist EAL trainers and consultants.
In addition, we are in the process of updating the EAL Handbook and producing online professional development materials which focus on subject specific literacies. We are also making our in-class coaching scheme available to more schools.
Finally, over the last two years some schools have been using the EAL self-evaluation documents. We are now formalising this process so that all schools will now be able to access a half day joint review of their EAL self-evaluation and be eligible for the EAL Quality Mark award.

Danish Ministry of Education

Building on previous work done for Copenhagen City Council and the Danish Ministry of Education, we recently undertook a comprehensive review for schools in Horsholm, Denmark.  This review included briefings for key professional and politcal leaders and training for all teaching and support staff, resulting in a clear and unified approach to meeting the needs of new arrivals across the local authority.

In addition, the EAL Academy has provided training and consultancy to the following Danish councils:-

  • Billund
  • Copenhagen
  • Egedal
  • Fredensborg
  • Gladsaxe
  • Herning
  • Hillerød
  • Hørsholm
  • Keterminde
