Claire Montgomery

Claire first trained as a secondary school teacher in Modern Languages and has been teaching EAL for 20 years in both primary and secondary schools across London. She holds an RSA Diploma in Teaching English in the Multilingual Classroom and an M.A in Human Rights and Education. She specialises in the education of refugee children and worked for Camden local authority as an advisory teacher for refugee children for 8 years, delivering training and courses to teachers and senior leaders as well as setting up supplementary schools for teaching home languages. She is currently Ethnic Minority Achievement Co-ordinator in an ethnically and linguistically diverse primary school in South London with responsibility for raising the achievement of EAL pupils and developing good EAL classroom practice across the school.
